Handling of Fresh Cut Hydrangeas
What is hardest, on cut hydrangea blooms, is the time they spend in shipment from us to you. If they arrive slightly wilted you can help them recover by following these steps.
Unpack and separate each bloom, if possible re-cut the stems under water ,eliminating the oxygen bubble in the stem ,which restricts the uptake of water to the blooms. If very wilted, immerse the entire bloom and stem completely under cold water and allow to soak for two hours, (a large bath tub works well for large orders). You may need to weigh down the blooms, to keep them immersed.
Up until the time of making your flower arrangements and placing them, keep them in as cool a place as possible. Depending upon handling and time of year (temperature), you can usually expect your blooms to last an average of 4-7 days. |

Open your box of hydrangea blooms as soon as possible. Your hydrangea flowers should look similar to these pictures. We ship our flowers with a foam liner to protect them from heat and damage. We also use flower transport gel (FTG) around each 5 stem bunch keeping them hydrated during shipment (when unpacking this can be removed and discarded). Finally we also include gel-ice to keep the flowers as cool as possible in shipment. It is possible that some blooms may arrive limp, follow these next directions and those above to rehydrate. |

Finally you can arrange your hydrangea flowers in a vase by spreading out the stems. Additional flowers and greens may be added, although hydrangeas do look great as a stand alone product.
One more thing, my mother changes her water every 2-3 days to lengthen the life of her blooms, she has found this to be very successful!, and as we all know.......
